Testing before hcg blood test?

Question

In your opinion is it a good idea to take a test at home before going in for the hcg blood test?i just feel like I don’t want to get bad news st the doctor’s office, but am also afraid to test at home this cycle because of the trigger shot. Any insight is appreciated!

Personally I think there are pros and cons. If you did trigger, I would suggest testing out so if you do get a positive you're not stuck wondering if its real or due to the trigger. I personally tested out my trigger and as a result figured out during 2 of my iui that I was pregnant but then lost them within a couple days. Had I waited, I would've never known. That is one downside. That being said, I obsess and not testing causes me anxiety... some women get really depressed if they test early and get a negative, even if it may be too early to get a positive. I didn't have that issue and could tell myself it may still be early. Some women choose not to test because they are afraid of getting a negative and want to enjoy the possibility of being pregnant as long as possible. Some want to receive the answer in the privacy of their own home. It's a personal decision only you can make. Good luck!

I personally wanted to know before the blood test. I had a trigger shot so I tested it out. I still wasn’t fully convinced until I got beta but I was pretty sure.

I tested out my trigger (if the line gets lighter each day it’s your trigger if it gets darker it may be BFP). My trigger is out of my system but I’m waiting until 8dpo to test again for bfp line. And I’m definitely going to test the morning before the blood test!

I said I wasn't going to test because I didnt want to get excited about a chemical.  I ended up giving in the day before because I was convinced it failed and I didnt want to get bad news during my work day.  I am currently in the middle of beta hell... hopefully beta 4 is more convincing.  So bottom line:  testing or not testing I am still in waiting mode 17dpt because my betas are low. Do what feels right because you can't change the results, but dont test too early the stress isn't worth it!
