How to dry up my milk?

I’ve only breastfed for 4 days, and made the decision to switch to formula. Tips and tricks on drying up my milk? Thanks!

You can request from your obgyn this prescription called “cabergoline”. I requested that when I was 6 weeks postpartum. You can feel the difference immediately. Your breasts will still be engorged but it will take another 2/3 days for your milk supply to dry up completely. Just remember to wear a tight bra during that period to ease the engorgement while the pill take effect. Don’t pump cause your body will produce more. Just hand express enough to make your breasts feel better.

I stopped nursing at 2 months and I took Benadryl, and didn’t pump as much as possible, and wrapped my breast with an ace bandage. I know some people may say not to bind your breast like that but it helped me, it can cause you to get clogged ducts so be careful doing that but if you wrap tightly ( not to tight though) it can help suppress milk production... I would stand under the hot shower and massage my breast just to work out clogged ducts so I didn’t get mastitis. When I got out of the shower I would bend over and let excess milk drip out. Then put on a tight sports bra and wrap the ace bandages around your chest (binding your breast) as tight as it’s comfortable.The process is very painful but that’s how I did it 🤷🏼‍♀️ took advice from my mom who had to stop nursing. I breastfed for 5-6 weeks and couldn’t stop pumping until I was about 12 weeks. At that point my supply was high and just not dipping, so I went on birth control, and I was able to stop within a week. I’m not planning on breastfeeding this time, and I’ve been told to just avoid creating a supply, so pump as seldom as you can (while watching out for infection), use Sudafed or Benadryl, and putting cabbage leaves in a tight sports bra are supposed to help.

I personally used rags both hot and cold, and did it slowly, not cold turkey. I always found self expressing just enough to relieve helped a lot, and because you have barely made milk it shouldnt be too hard! Good luck!

Gel ice packs, letting them get full and stay full, tight bra day and night... Never take it off. I used a hakkaa to remove just some, little milk if they were so engorged I was in pain only until I felt relief. Other than that, it seems like mine went away just doing nothing.

Sudafed. And only pump to comfort to avoid mastitis. Also peppermint tea

Don't simulate, turn away from the shower head, peppermint (specifically 3 peppermint altoids, 4 times a day was recommended to me by a lactation consultant).  I've had two babies and never had more than a couple days of fullness/discomfort.
