Do I have inverted nipples ? Will I need a breast shield for breast feeding ?

When i pinch them they do not stick out , this is what it looks like.

Don’t worry, I had inverted nipples. The baby will release the tissues and the nipple will eventually pop out. Now my nipples aren’t inverted anymore after having my 1st. She couldn’t latch so I hand expressed colostrum and then used a nipple shield in the beginning when my milk came in. I would practice getting her to latch every day before I put the shield on, I didn’t give up! It was hard but after a few weeks she could latch great without the nipple shield and pulled my nipples out. Good luck you can do it!

They look kinda flat to me, mine are similar. My son is able to latch really well with a Lactation consultant helping but when they aren’t the latch is painful so I’ve been using nipple shields and they are sooo helpful. I would try to get baby to latch normally and if it’s not going well get a Lactation consult and maybe some nipple shields.

They look a little flat like mine. My LC told me to try pumping for a few minutes first to get my nipple pulled out and also to roll your nipple between your fingers and pull it out starting higher up on the breast and pushing down until you get to the nipple. It helps!
