17 and pregnant?!

I just found out I’m pregnant and the boyfriend already knows. We don’t have any idea what we’re going to do next but we want to keep the baby. But we have to talk to our parents because we’re still underage. Can anybody please give me some advice in how to tell our parents or how we manage to take responsibility for our action it would really help rn I feel so stressed and sad not knowing what to do next. Please let me know.

I agree with Cassie. & as far as taking responsibility... are you both in school? If so, what grade? Or if you’re both graduated, are you both going to college? If you’re both going to school full time then get part time jobs, if only one is going to school, then the one not in school gets a full time, in school gets part time, if both are not in school, both get full times. Save money!!! Babies are expensive (obvi). Apply for Medicaid for you and baby. Apply for food stamps & WIC. As far as baby stuff, look at your options. Buy things that are multipurpose, like a convertible crib instead of a bassinet that only lasts a little bit. Skip the baby tub and just bath baby in sink. Consider cloth diapering instead of disposables. Also breastfeeding over formula feeding. If moving out on your own isn’t possible right now, talk to either parents about staying with them and maybe paying some bills to help out. (It helps if you’re living with your own mom as you’ll be more comfortable and she’d be able to help a lot with advice & stuff). Whatever will help financially in the long run do it! Oh & just remember... this is YOUR baby. Nobody can force you to give it up for adoption or abort it. If you want to keep the baby, then do it and love the hell out of it. Best of luck!

You and your boyfriend should tell your parents that you want to have dinner, probably at home so you can discuss things openly with them. Before the dinner, come up with a game plan with your boyfriend so you’re prepared to discuss it with your parents - finances, school, everything. It’ll make you come across as mature and prepared and might make the conversation go over easier. Just remember that however they initially react might be out of shock, fear, or anger; but they will come around. You’ve got this girl ❤️

My mom was not the happiest because I’m 17 but I’ll be 18 when she’s born. I thought my mom would be mad for forever and I was so scared to tell her but she made me a doctors appointment the next day. It does help to work and WIC is definitely something you should look into if you keep the baby. You can message me if you ever want to talk though!
