UTI concerns

I had a uti and treated it at home with azo. I went to the doctor yesterday to get actual antibiotics after a week of discomfort and my urine test came back negative. So the dr said it must have cleared up but I’m still experiencing pain and discomfort (burning when I’m finishing urinating and a weird pain on the surface of my vulva during most times)

Do uti symptoms remain after the actual bacteria has been cleared up? I’ve never had one before so I don’t know if this is normal.
