Alaska?!

Any ladies's husbands stationed or living off base in Alaska? My husband is looking to be stationed here. Any information pros and cons are greatly appreciated!

Just about everything is more expensive in Alaska but it is also considered an  overseas Duty station so he'll get more money. So I'd recommend trying to find a cheap place off base so you'll be able to pocket all your extra money. There are plenty of outdoor activities to do, and its absolutely gorgeous. He'll want to be prepared for the sun being out all summer, and dealing with very harsh cold winters. And PT during the winter can be absolutely brutal. If you guys do move there  you'll want to get auto start on your car if you don't have it already . I'm from Alaska btw so if you have any specific questions I can gladly answer them.

I was born and raised in Alaska and met my husband while he was stationed here, a lot of military families I know live in Eagle River, and it’s about 15 minutes to the gate. Alaska is expensive but it is a little cheaper to live there rather than Anchorage
