Codependency

How did you become more independent from your boyfriend? Being your own person and creating your own identity without him. I think I struggle with this as I grew up being very codependent with my mother and father.

Edit: I live on my own and did for about a year and a half before meeting him. I’ve gone to military school away from home with no contact for half a year, and I’ve worked a lot. Traveled on my own dozens of times, and am independent in those ways. It’s just emotionally I depend on others to make me feel better often.
