I had it done at 12 weeks. It was an amazing experience - 1-hour u/s (nt scan) and a blood test. Not bad for a little peace of mind!  And, genetic testing is not to decide whether to terminate a pregnancy. Abnormalities like Downs carry risks you need to plan for, if you find out your baby is at risk - death in utero (30%), need for surgery in utero, need for surgery upon birth (so, you'd have to deliver at a hospital that has neonatal surgeons), or death upon birth. Knowledge is power. If your insurance covers it, why not?

I lost our first baby due to a fatal chromosonal disorder at 32 weeks, we couldn't tell until 29 weeks ( hydrocephalus only developed then) and in 2,5 weeks it went to 4 inches... At 11 - 12 weeks we are doing genetics to check for deffects. We can't bear another late diagnosis and we want to enjoy the pregnancy !

I did and I found out I was a carrier for cystic fibrosis! My husband was able to get tested, he came back negative. I was also able to inform my family no one else knew that we carried it.

I let the Drs do any test they wanted with my first and I was told she had Down syndrome. I did my research and prepared myself and even talked with my chain of command about getting out of the military bc I didn't think I cud do both. Well my baby was fine yes she was diagnosed with autism at age 3 but normal baby. So second I decided I didn't want to know. My dr keeps trying to test me n hubby bc she says we have a higher risk of having another one. But she neglects to understand idc if I have another autistic child. I just don't see the point in testing and they can't tell you 100% and I wud never abort regardless of results so u worry my self there is nothin I can do so I chose now to remain ignorant

Yes I had it done still waiting to do the second blood draw. I just want to know if anything is wrong. And trysomy 18 and 13 are really bad😕 the genetic counselor told me what it does and I would have to end the pregnancy. I couldn't let a child live like that. Down syndrome isn't that bad I could deal with that

I just had blood drawn yesterday for testing. I would rather know so that we can mentally be prepared when baby is born. I'm already 18 weeks, and we wouldn't terminate anyways, but if there was something wrong with the baby we would rather know so we could have our house ready, be prepared for a lengthy hospital stay, be prepared to buy special equipment if needed, etc. I'd rather find out before birth so that when baby is born that day can still be joyous and not full of bad surprises.

I did and we got the mess scared out of us because the test came back positive for trisomy 18. Had to wait 2 weeks to get the additional test then 2 more weeks to hear back. I was a wreck the entire time :,(
