Giving up on breastfeeding ?

My daughter is 3 months and EBF. Since day one my milk supply had been all over the place. I pump to keep my supply up. Sometimes I have a really good supply and others I barely pump anything. My daughter currently only early 2-2.5oz every 2 1/2-3 hours. Last night she went all night without a wet diaper and was very upset. I gave in and made her a bottle of formula and she sucked it down. 
I know BF is hard work and I need to work at keeping my supply up but gosh it’s so hard, most days I just want to give up and just do formula. I feel like a failure and selfish. My husband is somewhat supportive but I kinda see a look in his eyes like “are you really giving up?”.
Anyone else stop breastfeeding early on?

Yup. It was for my health and sanity. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with formula, babies will still thrive on it. Do not feel like a failure! My daughter has been on formula since 1 month old and she’s doing amazing. She’s doing things most babies her age aren’t and is so happy. I’m happy as well and healthy now so it is for the best. Fed is best and always will be momma.

It cannot be stressed enough that the amount of milk you able to pump is NOT ever a reliable indicator of how much milk you are producing, nor how much milk baby is taking in. The healthy breastfed baby is usually much more efficient at getting milk from the breast than a pump is. Keep in mind that the average mom who is pumping between breastfeeding sessions can express between ONE and THREE oz per pumping session (not per breast, per session).
When giving breast milk in a bottle 1-1.5oz Pr hour is what’s recommended, regardless of age.

There is also a leap and a growth spurt around 12weeks old.

I gave up about an hour after delivery.  It just was not for me. I had a great group of nurses and a lactation lady in the hospital and a fantastic pediatrician who supported me and my choice not to breastfeed. This is YOUR choice and dont let anyone judge you offer make you feel bad no matter which way you choose. If you choose to keep trying or you choose formula you are still an amazing mom!

Don’t worry about what people think. You just have to do what’s best for your baby. I’m in the same boat right now I just had my baby and my supply is small so I’m having to formula feed as well and it makes me sad cause I feel like I failed but I know that making sure she is fed and full is what matters

I had to stop exclusively pumping for my daughter when she was 7w old (I was an over producer it honestly hurt a lot to quit) but I had NO choice. My girl has a very severe intolerance to soy and dairy which I eat a lot of since I’m type 1 diabetic and many soy options are very low carb and so is cheese so cutting it from my diet wasn’t an option. To top it off I have a gluten intolerance myself so I would have been stuck with veggies and fruits but then we go again with her having extra gas issues as well. And then god the acid reflux from hell, I mean projectile vomiting 5+ times a day... I had no choice but to put her on nutramigen hypoallergenic 😭 
It really hurt it stung like a SOB I feel your pain mama I really do. I continued to pump for her until recently (she is 13w) I slowly started pumping just twice a day then once a day... anyways I have over 700oz in my freezer I’m hoping she can take. I know how attached us moms get to pumping and breastfeeding... but honestly it does get better. My girl is so much happier now that the food she gets doesn’t make her sick. She doesn’t eat a lot either, about 3oz every 4-4.5 hours and then a 6.5-8h stretch at night. It’s rough but you could always just pump for shots and gigs that’s pretty much what I did.

I’m in the same boat. I have been pumping every two hours and supplementing with formula in order to feed my LO (7 weeks) and I am miserable. My supply is all over the place and I place so much guilt on myself for not being able to give my baby more breast milk. I have decided that I’m going to quit pumping once he gets his shots at 2 months. I need to quit just to stay sane. Formula feed babies do just fine and I rather be in a better mindset in order to be the best mother I can be. 
Breastfeeding is hard work and you should be proud that you have done it for this long but it’s not for everyone. And don’t think of it as giving up. You are transitioning to formula because it is the best decision for you and your baby. A happy mama equals a happy baby.

I dried up at 5 weeks, you have to take into consideration your mental health with this cause it will affect your supply. If you can’t you can’t. A fed baby is ALL that matters

With my first I BF for 4 months now this time around our baby is 2 weeks tomorrow and it is so tough I think I might stop when baby is 2 months so mid August
