Traveling overseas - any travel tips? Pls share!

Taking my bub on the long haul from
Sydney to NYC in a few weeks. He will be 19 weeks old. Flying Qantas on economy flight, and bassinet gets allocated the day we fly so it’s TBD if we get it or not. Share your travel tips please! EBF and not on solids yet. Husband with me on the way there but I’ll be solo on the way back.

Breastfeed while ascending and descending so to help with their ears!! And with how loud the plane will be, that’s perfect “white noise” for your little one and they’ll sleep for a good while (I hope). Just take toys, but they’ll most probably want to play with cups and random stuff on the plane 😅 and food pouches if you’ve introduced solids, it’s a great way to kill time! Good luck ♥️

Baby wear. Check car seat and stroller in at gate. Buy one of those bags on amazon. Get some nice antibacterial wipes and paci wipes. If you can pump do that. Depends on how long the flight is too though cause you’ll have to empty your boobs. Bring some activities for baby so keep him or her distracted. Also utilize all the easy access lines lolll!

Do you have a seat where the bassinet can be attached? The ones right in front of the walls? We flew a few times internationally with my daughter when she was a baby and while they technically didn’t allocate the bassinets until you got there, if you had reserved the seats in front of the hooks for the bassinet you always got one. Those seats cost extra, though (extra leg room), and we could only reserve them via the hotline for some reason.

I was just reading about the pros and cons of taking car seat on flights with you, definitely something to look into! Pro, don’t have to hold baby the whole time and it’s much safer for bumpy rides. Con, gotta buy another seat for the flight

Try to get a window seat for nursing, so much easier!
