Miscarrying without a lot of blood

Has anyone miscarried without much bleeding? My hcg levels are going down and I'm definitely miscarrying. I've only lightly bled on two occasions. I have had brown spotting for awhile though. The doctor said it could just continue on like this and I can complete miscarriage without seeing a lot of blood. Seems strange. I'm feeling thankful that the numbers are going down themselves though as I'm a little anxious about needing to use medicine. Has anyone experienced this?
