Why can't I put in tampons?

Question

I've tried putting them in at least 4 or 5 times but I can't get them to go in. I exhale and relax the muscles as I try to push it in, but it goes maybe half a centimeter and then it just starts hurting a lot. And then I feel really bad because I wasted so many tampons. Does anyone know why I can't get them in? I'm a 14 year old virgin if that affects anything.

When I first tried I had a lot of trouble but I watched a couple of videos and tried different positions and after a couple of try’s I got it in so just try different things

I’m almost 18 and I still struggle with tampons!! It’s totally normal, you have nothing to worry about!! 
I heard Diva cups do wonders! 
Not everyone has a wide set vagina!

I would recommend using a mirror while trying,relaxing yourself and inserting at a 45 degree angle. When inserting the tampon it should go in smoothly as if it’s almost sliding , if you feel like you are pushing on it you might not have it at the right angle. If you are still having trouble can speak to your doctor about any concerns that you may be having, it’s nothing to be embarrassed about 💕

You are still very young, to properly insert a tampon you must relax your whole body, get into a comfortable position (perhaps one leg on the toilet or a box or something) and the other on the floor.
Also, tampons with an applicator (preferably plastic) make it way easier to get in! 
Normal tampons without an applicator are definitely more difficult to put in, and the cardboard ones hurt! The plastic ones are definitely the best in my opinion.:)
