Coming home outfit?

Question

Hi guys! Does anyone have any plans for the outfit for going home from the hospital (for baby?). I know it relies on weather somewhat, but I’m just wondering what people were thinking. 
Also, do I have to get a snowsuit or would a winter car seat cover and layers kind of do the trick?

I’m doing a zip up sleeper for the going home outfit. As for the snow suit, there’s really no reason to have one. You can’t put them in the car seat wearing it and I doubt you’ll be playing in the snow with your infant lol. Car seat cover is a great idea though!!

You’ll probably be fine with footed pajamas for a going home outfit. What we did with both of our older kids (a January baby and a March baby) was fold a small thick blanket and use that to cover them in the car seat for the brief time they’re outside when it’s cold out. Definitely don’t use any sort of snowsuit or thick jacket in the car seat, they can cause the straps to not fit snug enough, and in case of an accident could potentially launch your baby out of the car seat. The only thing that should be in your car seat under the straps is your baby (so no to the head positioners, the blankets with the holes for the car seat straps, things like that). You could also go with a car seat cover, either one that hangs from the handle or one that fits over the top like a fitted sheet. Just make sure to only shut them when baby is outside. 
We’re planning footed pajamas for the going home outfit, then possibly use a cover this time around (my mom found a good deal on a hockey themed one), or we may just use the same blanket we used with baby girl’s older brothers.

Baby is going home in the outfit her sister wore almost two years ago . She was born in October as well . I made sure I had a fleece lined car seat cover and I bought the same one again for this baby . I put a light blanket in there before zipping it up and little one was warm the whole time .

I’m in Australia so can’t help with the outfit home as we’re in the complete opposite season, but, on the snow seat though, it is not recommended to wear anything “thick” under the seat belt. This includes snow suits/ rain jackets, or even just thick jumpers. The way to check if something is too thick is to put baby in their car seat in only a onesie and do the seatbelt up. Take bub out of the car seat without loosening the seatbelt, and put them back in with whatever item of clothing you’re not sure about (in terms of thickness). If the seatbelt does not do up without loosening the straps it is too thick. This is because in an accident, the thick item of clothing can decompress under the seatbelt making it too loose, and baby can fly out of the belt all together.

Honestly the going home outfit can really be anything simple. It can be as simple as a long sleeve onesie with cute pants. The baby will be going from the hospital room to the car then to the house. He will only be outside for maybe a few minutes. If it’s cold just put a thicker blanket on him.  
We will probably bring our boy home in a simple one piece or pj set. He will also be born in October. (However i live in Georgia so it will probably still be 80 degrees) 
Also, you have a few comments saying it already but nothing on baby that is super thick. I don’t even put a jacket on my older son (3 yo) when he is in the car seat. It’s not safe. I just always have a blanket in the car. As well as warm the car before we put him in.

Probably a long sleeved onesie and pants? Maybe a jacket. I'm due early October and it's still pretty nice then where I live. Or footed long sleeved pjs. It's not really recommended to wear snowsuits in car seats so if I have too I'll layer up.
