How do you deal with certain family members not liking your babies name?

Question

I found out I am having a boy. I wanted a European name because I am from Portugal and my husbands mom is from Finland. We chose Aleksi for him and I love it. There is absolutely no changing my mind but my brother hates it and has made fun of it like no other. How do you deal with certain family members making fun of your chosen baby name?

We decided to not share our name choice until birth. It’s no one else’s business to know or comment on in our opinion.

I’ve learnt in the past that people with the most hurtful comment towards names are family members 
I am expecting baby 6 and will not be sharing name till after birth again

Honestly, who gives a crap what he thinks. It's not his kid, it's yours and YOU love the name so that's all that matters. You should tell him as such too. 
I have a sister in law who made a rude comment about my son's name when we did the gender reveal and at the time i wasnt too keen on the name but my husband loved it so i couldnt say no lol. Anyway, all her comment did was make me love the name more and to keep it just to spite her 🤣 
I think it's a beautiful name and that you should definitely tell your brother to shove it next time he makes a rude quip.

Tell him to get over it and start making fun of his name so he knows how it feels.
Or sit down and tell him that he’s being hurtful.

Thank you ladies for the comments! I’m happy with sharing my sons name. My husband and I love his name. It’s a super traditional Russian/Finnish name and I love that no one in the US will really have it. I have a lot of people who love it too so I’ll just tell my brother to shove it 😂💙

I FEEL this because my daughter has a unique name and more than one family member hated it! My dad mostly! Other people would say something like “wow.... that’s um... unique” it would really hurt my feelings ! 
Well she is 2 now and everyone loves her name and says it fits her so well! Even my dad said he couldn’t picture her with a different name. You might just have to give it time, once they are here I’m sure you’ll get a different response. 
Don’t get me wrong, strangers still make comments but family members know her and think the name is great. X ❤️ PS I think his name is cute !

With my first, I didn't share the name until my babyshower. We had guest play game to guess the baby name. I was already 35 weeks or so. So there was no comments made.

My mother didn’t like the name Aiden which is my sons name and I simply told her well sucks for her she will just have to deal with it. Once the baby came they won’t care what the name is all they will see is the beautiful baby.
