Baby Dominic is here (long post)

So my baby boy's birth did not go as planned at all. I had my 40 week appointment on June 4and there they told me I was about 1cm dilated and pretty effaced. They also commented that I was experiencing contractions during the appointment, I didn't realize the crampy feeling I was having was contractions. At the end of the appointment we scheduled my induction for the evening of Sunday June 9th. I go home and continue to experience mild contractions for the rest of the week. Sunday comes my husband and I go to the hospital to start my induction. The doctor comes in and does an exam, I am still only 1cm dilated but I am almost fully effaced and I am still having contractions fairly consistently. Since I was having contractions they couldn't give me the ceevadil pill by my cervix so they did a Foley to assist with dilation. Around 8pm they started pitocin. I labored naturally for most the night. Around 2-3am I had IV pain medication so I could sleep some. At 7am they woke me up to do an exam and I was 3cm dilated and the Foley fell out. I was having consistent contractions about 3-4 minutes apart. I ate some Jello to try to keep my energy up and continued to work on breathing exercises to get through the pain. At lunch time I had another exam and I was about 4-5cm dilted. By then the contractions seemed to be one immediately after the other and I could not carry a conversation with anyone. I was struggling to use any of the techniques to cope with the pain. Around 2pm I gave in and got an epidural and they broke my water. Once I got the epidural I was able to rest and tried to eat some water ice. I slept for a couple hours on and off. When I woke up around dinner time I was extremely nauseous and vomited everything I had eaten and drank that day. The nurses brought me more water ice and ginger ale to try to get fluid/sugar into me but I was not able to keep anything down. At 8pm they checked my cervix and I was about 7cm dilated. I continued to labor until 2am when they did another exam and saw no progression and that my cervix was actually hardening instead of staying soft. I also had a slight fever at this point in time and my babys heartrate was going down a little after every contraction. My doctor recommended a c section since it seemed like he was stuck. I agreed to the c section and was brought to the operating room. My son was born at 3:10am. I honestly have very little to no memory of the last few hours of labor or my c section besides how scared I was and how sick I felt. I know after my son was out I stayed to have panic attack and they gave me some medication. I know in the recovery room they had me hold my son and try to breastfeed but I was in so much pain I couldn't really manage for more than a few minutes. (I remember this but it is very fuzzy and I cant remember any details). My son was born healthy at 8lb 9.6 oz and 21in long. I am so in love with baby Dominic and my amazing husband for all of his support and help with our new little baby. It was a total of 30 hours of labor (started 8pm Sunday baby delivered. is C section 3:10am Tuesday), about 18 hours of that was unmedicated. I had planned on having a completely natural unmedicated birth but in the end healthy baby was the most important thing.
