Cyst on umbilical cord?

So I went in today for my first appointment and sonogram and the doctor said there looks to be like a cyst on the umbilical cord. He also said that it's really early and he can't be for sure. I'm currently measuring 8 weeks 4 days. I have to go back in 5 weeks for another sonogram and he wants me to do genetic testing. I was just curious to see if anyone else has had this in their first trimester and what was the outcome? Thanks in advance!

My doctor found a 5mm cyst on my umbilical cord at 9 weeks. We just went in for an 11 week checkup, and it was completely gone! Good luck to everyone who is going through this. It scared me too, but it is probably something that will resolve on its own.

Hi, I see that you posted this a while ago, but I wanted to see how things turned out with your next ultrasound if you don't mind sharing. I just had my first one at 8 weeks 3 days and they also found a cyst on the umbilical cord. Doctor said they normally go away on their own, but I can't help but worry. Thanks!

I had a similar situation this week. She said she saw a sac on the umbilical chord. But she never said cyst. Didn't seem too concerned. We go for a level two ultrasound in two weeks.

I'll be praying for you as well!! It's definitely worrisome, but try your best not to think about it. I was in tears at the beginning, but I told myself, if it's God's plan, I will love my child just the same.
