How much is your little one saying ?

My son isn’t saying too much.. he can say, “up, dog, hat, cat (which sounds like at), night night, ya, no, ball, dada and mama. That’s all so far. 😬 
I’ve been reading he should be saying at two words together “what’s that?”and so on.

Mine hates to talk. He knows his sister’s name, mama, dada, no, this, apple, banana... he won’t talk unless he has to..

Thats actually a lot of words! He is saying something and that is all that matters. 
My doctor tried to shame me because i dont know what words my daughter is saying. I know she is saying words, probably not as much as she "should" be but she is saying things and associating sounds and words.  
If they do that and meet the other milestones, there is nothing to worry about.

I definitely believe there is a correlation between parents being chatty or quiet and kids talking earlier/later. Me and my husband are very chatty, especially me🤦🏻‍♀️and I have been the main caregiver since she born so she is almost having conversations with me. However my quiet cousins or friends have very quiet kids. You can distinctly see this relation when you go playdates as much as we do. Chatty parents have chatty kids and cooler parents have cooler kids🤣🤣😎 Don’t listen your pediatrician😉

My little guy had JUST started to kinda put words together. Like “thank you” even though it sounds nothing like thank you 😂 he can also say cool guy haha

My son’s pediatrician told me that boys tend to not be as interested in talking as girls at this age. This has definitely been true for my son. It’s obvious to us that he’s very smart and he understands a lot of what we say. But he doesn’t say much. He babbles a lot, but words he actually connects to things include: mama, daddy/dada, nana (his grandma), no, yes/yeah, sometimes he’ll say thank you and sometimes he’ll say I love you (both of those phrases are difficult to understand as he doesn’t separate the words but he says them as though they’re all one word). We read to him, we talk to him, we tell him the names of things... he’ll just develop at his own pace. We’ve had tests done, so we know he can hear and he’s capable of talking and understanding. He’s just taking his own time.

My LO talks quite a bit now. She’s just turned 20 months old. We are trilingual and I’m the care giver (husband doesn’t stay with us though). I try n talk to her as much a possible. So the other day I sat down n made a list of words she can say correctly and the list is currently at 270 words (majority being English). She does put two words together and sometimes speaks full sentences too.
