Strep B positive!?

Took the test last week and they told me today that I was positive. Currently 37+4. They told me that they would just give me antibiotics when I’m in labor, it’s common apparently... anything else I should know?

I tested positive for my first son and tested positive again when I went to my last appointment. It happens to 1 in 6 women. It’s nothing to worry about. It means you have a bacteria in you that’s just part of you. Make sure your doctor notes that when you go into labor you need an antibiotic so the baby doesn’t get sick or an infection. Good luck.

About 30% of all woman have strep b. I'm not sure if its known how you get it. It's not sexually transmitted. They'll give you antibiotics every 4 hours during labor. It reduces the risk of your baby getting sick because of it. I dont think its anything to worry about tho. You'll just want to make sure you have antibiotics once you go into labor because you dont want your baby coming into contact with it so once you start having contractions you should probably go in.

If you water breaks, go to the hospital ASAP. Typically they don’t want your water broken for more than 18 hours before the baby is actually born. So they’ll wait as long as possible to break your water when you’re in labor.
