Is it shitty to go to a wedding without a gift?

They just invited us 1-2 weeks ago and it’s today. We don’t really have money to spend on a gift.

I wouldn’t do it 🤷🏻‍♀️ we give money for weddings and not gifts in my culture. Whoever invited you doesn’t seem to be someone you’re close to anyways so I would just politely decline and say you have other plans. I can’t imagine going to someone’s wedding, enjoying the food/drinks/music etc that they paid for and not giving them anything. It’s rude and trashy.

For me, I invite people because I want them to be there, not because I'm looking for presents from them so I'd be totally fine with it!
If you feel awkward about it though, you could do something thoughtful/handmade that isn't expensive to put together.
Also, technically you have up to a year after the wedding to send your gift.

I think it depends on multiple factors (your relationship with the bride and groom, each of their personalities, where you are financially, where they are financially, etc). I've done it 🤷‍♀️ they want the people who love then around them. The gifts are just a bonus.

We always gift something, even if it’s only $20 or a board game or a movie or something. But then again, we don’t get invited to weddings with only 2 weeks notice.

There's only one wedding where we didn't give a gift. We went because the guy had been friends with my husband for like over a decade but we basically felt like seat fillers.
 They hadn't spoken to us for a long time, didn't answer messages but then out the blue we get an invite. So we went to show support but didn't give a gift because of the lack of relationship, and also they hadn't given us a gift for our wedding (they didn't even write in our guestbook).
