I was very set on having no pain meds and was doing great through the beginning of labor. Got to my room at 9 am was told they'd come back around 1 to check me. Around 1045am it just got too hard and I asked for pain meds because I just couldnt imagine feeling like that for another 5 hours+ (they told me since it was my first I'd probably deliver around dinner time at the earliest). Turns out it was so hard because it was transitional labor and baby was born at 1145am.
I wish I would have known I was in transition phase. I even read about it but I was in such denial and going by what the nurses told me instead of listening to my own body. Having an unmedicated birth was amazing and I'm so proud of myself, but I know if I would have have a longer labor I personally probably would have opted for an epidural.

Very manageable. Everyone’s different but it was easy for me. I had cervidill, cytotec, foley balloon, and pitocin to help induce labor. I also had once dose of pain meds through my iv and an epidural. I tried so hard to go completely natural but the epidural didn’t hurt at all. It felt like getting an iv. In my opinion the Foley balloon hurt more than anything in my entire labor. Pushing felt great too and I pushed for 1 1/2 hours. I had preeclampsia so I was also on magnesium and labatolol for blood pressure. My son was born at 36&5. He was also in the NICU for a month after that.
