Induction questions- help!

Sam
After my Dr's appointment today I was admitted to OB- my blood pressure was high, and I learned I gained 5lbs in 6 days. After lots of tests I was sent home with a bucket in which I am to collect my urine for the next 24 hours (so, that's fun). I have to take it back tomorrow, and if my BP is high or I have protein in my urine I have to be induced. If we can wait a few days she said she will, but will definitely be induced by Monday.
I'm 38 weeks tomorrow and ok with delivering now, but I'm very anxious about the induction process. We plan on a natural labor and I don't know if I can handle induction contractions! She said she will start with cervidil (I'm 1.5 cm 50% effaced now) I'm on bed rest now so I can't go for walks or try to get labor going myself. I've been using EPO and clary sage oil. How was the induction process for everyone else?

I'm getting induced Monday unless she decides to come before then. Good luck!

I was induced at 38 weeks with my first for the same reason. High blood pressure. I was in the hospital for 56hrs before they decided c section was the route to go. I believe your body will guide you along what is right for "you and baby" every woman is different and this journey is not easy, we don't get what we want sometimes 😉 however, my child was born with zero complications, I just had a lot of waiting around while induction took place. And today he is a happy healthy 5 year old.Listen to your body. Honestly, by law, no one can make you do anything. If you do not want to be induced and want to wait to do it naturally, so be it. I was however nervous and it was my first, I listened to everything "they" wanted me to. Now I feel differently. My body, my baby, I listen to "us"Now 👍🏻 Much luck to you and baby fellow mama!

Sorry for my late response. But yes ma'am the whole time. They were trying to have him come naturally. Pitocin to start, about 12 hours later epidural, 12 hours later broke my water, then 20 hours later they did a c section. My pelvis just wouldn't open up... 😳

Wow!! Were you in labor the whole time? Did you have pitocin and/or an epidural?

I'm sorry you're so nervous!  Even though you're on bed rest you could look up some stuff on YouTube about birth hypnosis and meditation. That can be really helpful during labor and can still help you get the natural birth you want!

Why couldn't you get up? Did you have an epidural?

I'm in the exact same boat as you, OP. My BP has been high for about two weeks and I've been on bedrest since last Thursday. I did the 24 hour urine test last week and go to the OB tomorrow to figure out when/if I get induced. I am 1 cm and 80% effaced as of last Wednesday and am currently 37 weeks and 5 days. I'm sorry I don't have any advice to offer but I can offer support since I'm in the same situation as you. Either way, you'll have a baby soon! ❤️Good luck!

Wow we really do have almost identical scenarios. It's good to know I'm not alone here. Thank you for the support and best of luck to you too!
