How do you deal with your LDR?

Question

It’s a new thing for me,only contacts via texts,messenger etc...And it will be for months like this.I’d just like to know how you personally deal with your own LDR.

We have a night time routine which helps and we spend as much time together as possible on our days off, which happen to be the same so it’s easier. My bf and I have been long distance for 3 years, 850+ miles from each other. We FaceTime every night before bed, text each other every morning when we get to work so we know the other is safe. we keep each other Informed so neither of us are wondering what’s going on with the other. Certain things get easier with time.

So my bf and I have been LDR for a few months now, and will be for another year. He lives in DC, I live in Moscow.
We talk every day, Snapchat, send each other memes and posts on Instagram. One big thing we love doing together is either playing multiplayer video games online together, or he plays and shares his screen so I can watch. We use Skype and Rabbit to watch tv shows together.  We also decided to both go to the gym more, so we have a shared hobby that even tho we’re not together to do, we can talk about our progress and connect that way.
One big thing that has helped is planning out the next times we’ll see each other. Always having the next meeting scheduled has helped so much. Like we were having a rough patch for a while but the second we figured out exactly what day we’d see each other again, it got so much easier (even tho we won’t see each other for another 6 months) cos we have something to look forwards to now. We talk a lot then about all the things we’ll do, the places we’ll take each other, etc. 
I know there’s also posts and stuff with all sorts of advice and things to do if you google it. There’s a few websites I’ve really enjoyed but I don’t remember them. One has something about an elephant in its name, if that helps 😂

It's not easy to say the least. We make sure to FaceTime once a day even though we have a 13 hour time difference right now. We also text every chance we get. Sometimes I will call him and he will just sleep just so we can feel like we're together. Some people think it's weird, but it works for us. I personally write to him. It's old fashioned, but it makes me happy. I also love getting letters from him every once in a while.
