My Doctor has ordered a NST twice a week until I have my baby. Is this normal with GD?

Yes, it’s normal. Had them with my first pregnancy and had GD.

I didn’t have any last pregnancy but was diet controlled. This pregnancy I have to take medication and I get them once a week from 34 weeks on.

I have type 2 diabetes and have not done a NST. I began going in for weekly ultrasounds at 34 weeks to measure fluid, check heart rate, and look at baby movement - and a growth measurement every 3-4 weeks. Never the 20-30min belt monitoring- this is my third pregnancy and never did that type of monitoring until I went in for possible labor

I was on insulin at night and had ultrasound every 2 weeks starting at 28 weeks then weekly at 36 (delivered at 38 weeks). Never had a single NST and was with a maternal fetal medicine program.

I’m doing the same thing and I’m not on any meds just controlled diet

Are you on insulin? If so then yes. If no, I’m not sure.  It’s alternating btwn NST and ultrasound once a week until 36 weeks, and then it’s NST twice a week until you deliver.  At least that’s how it is in the hospital/ practice I go to.
