Any tips on how to get baby to sleep in bassinet instead of in arms?

My baby girl is 1 week old today and she will not sleep anywhere but next to me. Obviously that’s a huge sids risk. I have the halo bassinet, but each time she falls asleep in my arms after feeding, I put her in there and she immediately awakes. Anyone have any tips or tricks on how to get her to sleep in the bassinet?

Swaddle her put your shirt (used) in the bassinet so she can smell you and see if that works. We used daddys shirt for a week with our daughter and she did ok we didnt have issues until 5 months when we had to take her in an emergency and she got used to sleeping with mommy. You shouldnt have to do that tho lol

My baby didn’t start sleeping in her bassinet until like 7 weeks. 🤦‍♀️ We slept upright on the couch, it was terrible. I would say just be persistent. If baby wakes up, console them and then put them back in the bassinet. Sometimes you have to do this numerous times. Also, the Halo sleep sack helped a lot!

Swaddling for sure! Try to find hip friendly swaddles though so that the hips form correctly! I recommend the SwaddleMe wraps that have the snug arms and room for the legs to move.

Swaddle. We also put a folded up recieving blanket under the bassinet mattress where we layed her head so that she would be on an incline. Once she got used to the bassinet we took the blanket out.

My baby loved the newborn insert for the halo bassinet... have you tried that? I’d swaddle then place him in there and he was nice and cuddled. I actually just took it off finally

Try placing a heating pad on warm in the bassinet. Let her fall asleep in your arms but after a few minutes, remove the heating pad and place her in the warmed bassinet. It helps with the transition because they still feel as though they are on your chest or in your arms since it's warm.

My daughter is 3 weeks old and we’ve been having this issue. I put one of my shirts over her bassinet mattress so it isn’t a hazard and it’s helped
