Do you think sexual abuse is rape?

I wanna take you briefly into some details of my abuse, as still to this day there is a debate whether the word 'rape' is loosely being threw around. 
I was sexually abused as a child. There was alot of unwanted touching/caressing, rubbing, and insertion of fingers into the vagina and anal passage.
Do you consider this to be rape?  Is no penetration, still rape?

Rape is sexual assault, but sexual assault is not always rape.  It is much broader.

Absolutely. Rape is forced penetration of the vagina, anus, or mouth without your consent. Even with fingers, that is rape. And to those saying its child molestation or sexual assault - yes, it is. But it's also rape.

I don't think defining the name of what happened to you will relieve any pain. Rape. Molestation. Abuse. Sexual abuse.  All of it is wrong and should imprison the person who did it.  My heart aches for you. Possibly a therapist who specializes in this topic could help shine some light and give you some relief. Prayers for you.

This happened my wife when she was younger. (finger penetration) and we consider it rape.

That's molestation. The difference is that it's intercourse vs unwanted touching as you have experienced. Both are illegal. Both are done without permission. Just different words. If you were to tell someone that you were raped, they would assume that someone had sex with out against your will. If you were to say molested, it would better describe your experience.

By the way, I have been there. Don't let it eat you up. Being a victim of your circumstances is a choice. What happened to you is not your fault.
