i am so tired of people basically saying that being a dad is just someone who financially provides for their kid. and that’s basically it. and if they can’t do that then they’re not a father. being a PARENT is BEING THERE for your kid. loving them. teaching them. watching them grow. being proud of all their accomplishments and milestones. i could give a fucking shit about WHO is the financial provider. it should be BOTH parents working equally as hard to provide EVERYTHING for their children. my baby’s father said that raising a kid is 80% the mother’s job and 20% the fathers job. and that i basically don’t have a right to ever feel upset or angry that i’m doing so much on my own. or that i’m alone for so much of the day with the baby and just sometimes need a break or a nap. my own dad has always validated everything abusive he’s said to his kids by “well, i’ve financially provided for you my whole life. i’m a good dad” but that’s not WHAT BEING A DAD IS! I GET IT. i’m not saying you don’t need money. obviously you do need to have money to raise a child and a family but that’s NOT ALL YOU NEED. i’m literally so mad right now.
