Giving fish to baby? 🐟

We went for her 9 month check up today and I mentioned baby had some cooked fish and she loved it. The doctor told us no fish until 2-3 years because of possible allergies. What has your doctor told you about eating fish? 
Also, she’s 20 pounds 29 inches. Out of curiosity, what is your little ones weight and height? 🥰

I’d find a new dr. That advice is extremely outdated.

Right that is outdated information...
My LO has had fish a few times. It is now known that early exposure can reduce the chance of developing an allergy. And also the allergy specialist said that even if they do have a mild reaction such as hives or a contact rash to continue feeding it to them and it will eventually stop happening. Severe allergies occur when the food is completely avoided after a mild reaction.

That’s old fashion. Give all of the 8 big allergens starting at 6mo unless you have family history of allergy.

My doctor said give everything in the world except honey. Honey is to be on hold until 1 year of age. The more you introduce the better

No! The earlier you expose your baby to allergens the better their chance of not developing an allergy! The recommended age is around 6 months for all major allergens. Honestly, I would find another doctor because that’s a terrible recommendation...

We've given cooked salmon and white fish, baby girl loves it!
She's 14lb 8 (weighed last week) not measured but she's not long!

My husband has a shellfish allergy (nausea reaction only). At my baby’s 6 month checkup, we discussed introducing solids and what was ok and what was not ok. Ped said to avoid shellfish because of my husband’s known allergy, but to give all other types of fish. Well, my baby has had ALL fish, including shellfish, at this point. Was I nervous to give him shellfish? HELL YES! Is he fine? Yes, thankfully. But I was fully ready to drive to the ER if need be. Doctor may have an opinion, but we’re the parents, and so we did it anyway. 
He now regularly eats shrimp, salmon, scallops, grouper, basically whatever fish I order at a restaurant or make at home, I make sure to give him a small sample. I am extremely grateful that he doesn’t seem to have an allergy to shellfish. 🙌🏻

My baby boy is 25 lbs (99th percentile) and 30 inches (97th)

At his 6 month appt , our ped told us 1 year. 2-3 years sounds late for a high allergy food.
