What is a normal temperature for a newborn?

My 3 week old son had been very fussy today and seemed kind of warm to touch so I took his temperature and it has been 37.4- 37.5. Just wondering if this is normal? I’ve read a bunch of different ranges on google and just wondering if anyone knows?

Is this a rectal temp or temporal temp? Rectal always runs higher. So it depends.

Anything at or above 38 degrees (or 100.4) would warrant a call to the doctors.

Normal temperature for a baby is the same as for an adult. Sounds like he's a little warm. I'd call his pediatrician just to be on the safe side since he's so new.
