Do I actually need a flu shot?

Our doctor told us yesterday that we are required to get a flu shot: I've never gotten one and I'm really bad with needles. Most of my friends and family that get the shot end up having flu symptoms from the shot. Is that normal? Anyone else's Doctor requiring the shot?

I work in a hospital and it's even optional there. We have to wear a mask if we don't get the shot but that's besides the point. They do have Mercury and Thermisol free vaccines that are inactivated and safe for pregnancy if you're interested.

Mine didn't require it. They offered it. I got it yesterday. I usually don't get it but am taking extra precautions. It's up to you if you want to do it. What state are you in? I'm in Mass and it's not required.

Most doctors will push that on you. I have never gotten a flu shot my whole life (while I am vaccinated and so is my daughter and she gets a flu shot) I'm not against it I've just never gotten one. Even during my last pregnancy I didn't get one. It's your choice.

It's never a requirement ever. It's your body they can't make you get it. They highly recommend it. I didn't get one and my son and he was born In January. I think it's personally up to you and everyone is going to have a strong opinion to get it or not get it so good luck! (I get the flu shots occasionally just not when I was pregnant)
