Can you tell if a 4 month old has a sore throat?

How can you tell if your 4 month old has a sore throat? My little one coughs occasionally and has started refusing her pacifier.... in a way I'm glad about not wanting the pacifier but in times when shes screaming the place down it doesnt help her refusing but I wondered if her throat was sore and she wasnt keen on sucking?

I’m an ER nurse. The only way you can tell if a 4 month old has a throat issue is by looking. The throat will look red and possibly have dark red or white spots if it’s affected by a viral or bacterial illness. Take a peak while she’s crying since her mouth will be wide open. The good news is that strep is very uncommon for children under the age of 2 (I can’t remember why).

My little girl had a virus abit like tonsillitis can’t remember the exact name was a few weeks ago. She had red spots on the back her throat, she was feeding fine but was constantly crying all day wouldn’t sleep at night. I first thought she was teething be after 2days of constant crying and not sleeping at night. We tuck her doctors and found out she had a sore throat. This lasted a week and she ended up coming out with a viral rash to after a few days. She 7months if your concerned take baby doctors, it’s hard to tell if you don’t know what your looking for 😊
