Have you ever had to be around a frienemy?

Have you ever had to work, live, or attend school with an ex friend or some one who is a bad friend? How did you handle it?

All my "friends" are frenemies. Like the kind that are only around when they need something, but are never there for you when you need support..yeah.

I'm 20 years old which is too damn old to get worked up over petty things..so I've learned to be civil and friendly if/when I'm around them. I just never go out of my way to pursue anything more than that.

I had a friend that we grew up together. She always lied here and there about stupid things, but when we were about 25-26 she started lying about me to people. Huge lies. Her husband was a close friend of mine, I was the one to set them up. We would occasionally text each other but only to arrange get together a with all of us. Nothing inappropriate EVER happened between us, even when we were both single. Anyway, she told my friend (her husband) that I was divorcing my husband and had been to the lawyer to start paperwork. It was a complete lie. He text me telling me he was sorry, that he had been through a divorce and threat he and my friend were there for me and would help me any way they could. I decided to limit my contact with her then. On top of that, she went to my grandmothers house and told my grandmother that she basically caught me and her husband sexting each other. Thank god my grandmother knew how she was and didn't believe her. But I completely cut her off after that. Now we see each other occasionally and we still have mutual friends, so I'm polite but I avoid her. And I've made sure that any friends we have in common know what happened in case she tries anything else.

Yes. I keep it professional. I don't do the whole 'get back' stuff even if the person is bad mouthing me. It turns into people licking sides either they choose to be a 'mean girls adult' or they choose to say no that doesn't work. It works itself out. Usually those frenemy? People end up digging their own grave.

Yes. My sister and her awful wierdo boyfriend. They are so fake. They have a son though who at the end of the day is our nefew so at family gathering we just do small talk and just talk to the baba.

I ignore them completely or if I have to and I mean have to- I talk to them without any emotion and professionally. I'm usually very warm ,caring and goofy so people know when I stop caring and don't like them or want to even be talking to them

Everyday. I deal. It's mostly at work, I'm not there to make friends. I do my job, stick with the people I do like and go home. Easy. Gotta stay on your grown up game when it comes to "frenemies" just CYA.
