Ear gauges

So, just a backstory.

I'm 19, my 20th is coming up soon and I want to get small gauges in my ear. Obviously I'm old enough to make my own decisions, they're gonna be small and cute lol. Well I told my mom this and she started screaming and crying saying I was gonna be ugly, my ears are gonna be ugly, and was begging me to not get them. It's my body, so I'm still going to get them because I want them. But after seeing her like that I'm just not sure how to feel. Has anyone ever experienced something like this with their mother?

****I pay them rent, I own my own car, I pay the insurance, I have a credit card with a good credit score, I provide for my reptiles and my exotic animals and fish (I'm into fish keeping) I pay for my phone, my food, etc... So I feel like I'm old enough to make this decision for myself, but she's making me feel small. Idk, just looking for advice.
