Cloth diapering?

I’m thinking about using cloth diapers with my second baby but I’m so confused! Lol. Can anyone explain the differences between the types of cloth diapers that there are available? Pros and cons of the different types? What do you like about cloth diapering? Does it hold pee and poop in well? Do you have trouble with leaking overnight, etc. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I like the all in ones from the research I’ve done. They are a tad more expensive but they are the easiest to use. You don’t have to fold them yourself, put plastic pants or a shell on over them, you don’t have to put pads into them. It just has everything together. You can get ones that have adjustable elastic for the legs as well. They’re the most similar to disposable and very long lasting bc they’re high quality. The price is worth it.

All-in-twos/hybrids (same thing) are the newest style and are most expensive but well worth it! The inserts snap inside so you can remove soiled inserts and still use the same cover if it’s still dry.

YouTube is a great resource for info on cloth diapers bc you can see the different kinds in action. I went with flats and covers because they are economical and wash and dry really easily. I have about 8 covers and a couple dozen flat diapers. I change the flat out every couple hours or when he poops but reuse the cover until it gets dirty. (Vs pockets or AIOs where you wash the whole thing every diaper change.) I really like cloth and have found we don’t ever have blowouts like my friends do. If you exclusively breastfeed, they are super easy before you introduce solids—just dump everything in the laundry. I use a disposable at night.

I’m doing All in ones and pocket diapers. I think pocket diapers are more adjustable and AIO are just easier.

I will offer a counter point to the other poster— I love using prefolds and covers. I feel like they are easy to use and wash. I do like AIOs for overnight with little babies (when you’re up and change them several times a night), because they are just slightly easier to put on than prefolds and covers. 
Honestly I just feel like there are plusses and minuses to any system, so my best advice is to get a variety of styles and see what YOU like best. I went on Craigslist and got a used stash, and I got a few hand me downs from a friend, and between all of that I got an idea of what I liked. I bought more of what I liked and consigned the ones that I wasn’t as fond of.
