So first off I would like to say that I didn’t always understand/believe in white privilege until I got on this app and women explained it to me. So I know I am very privileged. I grew up middle class, had access to education, and wanted for nothing. Also there’s the obvious fact that I’m white. My husband also believes that white privilege is a real thing. However, my husband has been rubbed the wrong way by Bernie’s recent statement. My husband was born to a 15 year old mom and grew up in a trailer park. He didn’t always know where his next meal would come from, was threatened by gangs that lived in the area, and missed on a lot of school due to home issues, and he had to fight really hard to make a better life for himself. Now he understands and agrees that out of all his issues, being a certain race wasn’t one of them. But he’s still bothered by this. Do you agree with Bernie? Is my husband missing something or not understanding something? Please no hate, we’re both just genuinely trying to learn.
