There are no words
Today, September 30, started out like any other day. I got up, went to work, and kept busy. About two hours after I got there my boss asked me to let another sales associate to take over and motioned me over to the other register where I saw my aunt standing and right behind her my mother, who was still in her pajamas and face soaked with tears. I asked her what was wrong thinking maybe something happened to my dogs that she was watching. She responded "Grandma found Bart dead this morning". I remember every ounce of pain and can still hear my frantic voice screaming "No!" as I cried, my boss telling my mom and aunt to go ahead and take me. My body was shaking and suddenly I was numb. Bart is my step father who has raised me since I was 5. My biological father was never in my life so he's all I've known. Then the worst part comes. Going to pick up my 13 year old sister to break this horrible, life crashing news. She kept asking "how are we going to get through this?" Screaming and crying just as I did. And I had no words, no response, no words I can say to make this better.
