Birth control

Hi everyone! So I've been having this issue and want to know if anyone else has been through it! I am 22 years old and have been off birth control (depo provera aka the shot) for almost a year. In that year I have been having unprotected sex with my husband and we still have not gotten pregnant. Since being of the shot I have had irregular periods and they are still not normal. Any advice? Should my cycle be back to normal by now?
