Hysteroscopy awake?!

So I have one scheduled soon and was told I can be awake and it is routinely done in outpatient department and most people are awake. I asked about the pain and was told will be period type cramps and take a strong pain killer about one hour before. 
Anyone had one done without general??? How painful is it?

Mine was June 7th and they put me under for it. After there was some discomfort it’s hard to explained but it felt like how you feel with a skinned knee but inside your uterus. The area felt tight when I moved like it was scabbed over inside but not overly painful.

Just had mine done 7/8... Still some slight cramping and spotting. Which I was told is a normal factor afterwards. But I was awake for mine and it did hurt a bit, mostly some pressure. Hope that helps. GOOD LUCK amd make sure you do some pain relief before and after.

I was asleep for mine as well. I was in slight pain once the drugs wore off for a day or two, but took pain meds.

It hurts. Won’t lie. Reminded me of a contraction. When they were done I had some mild cramping. I found deep slow breathing was helpful. Ask if you can take an ibuprofen an hour before your appt. that can help.

Mine hurt.... But I gave myself a reality check : "the end goal to all this is going to be a hell of a lot more painful then this.  Buck up!"

Mine didn’t hurt at all but it hurts some people a lot. From what i hear, if you have pain, it’s over quickly. They always do them awake. Good luck!

Yea I don’t want to scare you but it hurts..... a lot. At least it did for me. The after pain was nothing compared to during it. It felt like a sharp and consistent pain as the camera was positioned. I was grabbing on to the nurse’s arm in tears.
Again, sorry to scare you but they should really warn you about how much it can hurt. And the Advil they told me to take did nothing. The upside is once the camera is taken out you feel great!
