Swim diapers?

Question

We live 5 mins from Lake Erie and a very busy beach. I want to take baby just for a little dip, at night when there is less sun and less tourists. 
Is a baby bathing suit ok? Does it need a swim diaper underneath or are those worn on their own? I doubt baby will poo in the time she’s in (like 5 mins max), so is a diaper needed? 
Bah! I feel silly asking this but I actually have no clue.

I found reusable swim diapers at target in the cutest prints for $10. It’s like a cloth diaper but made specifically for swimming. It’s a huge money saver and extremely soft.

We found a 2pack of reusable and resizable swim diapers on Amazon for $10. I love that they should be able to be used the whole time he's in diapers.

I use pampers little swimmers in a size small for my son. Just don’t leave it on too long it doesn’t absorb for hours on end lol I learned the hard way...

For a lake you dont really need a swim diaper (unless you 100% don't want poop on the swimsuit) if you don't want one! I have one so I use it in the lake because its so darn cute. 
Its mostly just to contain poop if they are in a public swimming pool.
