Is it better to have the traditional changing station in the nursery with the pad and all that, or not really realistic?

I’m torn. My sister never used hers with my niece because they spent their days in the living room not in the nursery. It was easier for her to change her in the pack in play than to take her to her room every time she needed to be changed. My sister had a rolling cart with three shelves she kept with her with all the diapers, etc.

Thoughts??? Advice???
