I think I'd like to get a wand!

-- From what I've read, this is how a wand should be. I heard it's best to make your own, and I found a list of various trees that you can make them from and what they're good for. But none of the sites are consistent on their info D: I need to know HOW to make one (i.e. do I need a ritual knife? Are certain designs better? How big should it be?) what types of things I can potentially do with one, if one will help with my visualization (such as drawing in mid air and seeing what I'm drawing better) and things like that.
