Do you believe birth control pills are harmful to the body?

I believe it's like any other medication. It's different for everyone. For me it made me go crossed eyed. My twin sister didn't have any negative effects.

Every medication under the sun has ups and downs.
I need them, otherwise I bleed for three months straight. Some women barely have side effects and are able to prevent pregnancy very effectively with them, some do not react well.
It’s different person to person.

I'm undecided. I think they still have a way to go in terms of making it as "user friendly" as possible. Less side effects would be great. They may not be harmful as such, but for so many women their experiences on BC are far from a walk in the park. I just think there must be a better way which doesn't cause things like loss of sex drive, low mood, weight gain etc. Or better yet, come up with some decent male birth control 😈

My hormonal birth control was a literal life saver. It helped even out my mood swings that triggered severe depression. It made my period manageable, so I could actually function. It prevented me from ovulating for years, which reduces my risk of ovarian cancer (I have a family history).

Yes. Like any medication it has it’s side effects. 
Some women don’t have to worry about that but women like me can’t take any form of Birth control. 
I get every side effect and it makes me super sick. My body just doesn’t react well to birth control. My mama and I figure this out when I was in high school and was sick for over a month. I was given antibiotics for what they thought was a cold. It didn’t work. Finally over my mama figured up what changed before I got sick. Birth control. I started the pill just one day before I started feeling bad. I stopped taking it and I was 100% better the following week. 
I tired many different pills and the shot but the results were the same. Finally I just stopped altogether. 
I know their are other options now but I just don’t like the idea of putting plastic into my body. 
I don’t understand why their are still only a few options for birth control and why it’s sorely focused on women.

Of course they are. It’s synthetic hormones going into your body, altering your hormonal levels and reproductive system. It has benefits that come at a cost. It’s not “good” but it’s the price you have to pay when you don’t want to have a baby, or have extremely heavy and painful periods. Regardless of the side effects we all have, it’s never a good thing.

I was on birth control pills for 9 years before I decided to officially stop taking them two years ago.. a couple of years prior I got off of them and didn’t get a period for 8 months and I wasn’t pregnant. My body just stopped having a menstrual cycle. It freaked me out and my obgyn at the time had to put me back on birth control just to make me have a period. Fast forward to June 2017 the week of my wedding I got off the pills again (and thank god I got a period after but it wasn’t regular). A couple of months later (November 2017) I got blood work done to see where my hormone levels were at and if it would be difficult to get pregnant since I have a history of an irregular period if I’m not on the pill. My levels were all low and my doctor said it could be difficult which broke my heart. Fast forward to May 2018 and I got pregnant FIRST TRY! It had almost been a year since I got off the pill and I was shocked I got pregnant so quickly since I was told it could be difficult. My husband and I knew it could be hard so we didn’t stress over whether or not we would get pregnant right away. I honestly blame birth control pills for messing with my period and making my hormone levels low. So now my husband and I agreed not to ever have me go back on the pill. And honestly I feel great!

Anything that's intended to prevent the natural process of life is unhealthy. Don't get me wrong I'm all for birth control, it's best to be protected to avoid unwanted pregnancies (especially if you can't afford one) I've tried birth control before, but there's way too many side effects. For me, it's not worth it.

None of it is natural, so it can definitely affect our bodies in various ways.
