Would it be worst to have sight and lost it or to have never had sight?

Question

Tonight my husband and I began watching "In The Dark" on Netflix, it's a series about a woman without vision that searches for the person who murdered her friend. 
While watching it.. I asked my husband what he thought was probably worse... Having sight and losing it or just never having sight to begin with..
I personally felt like having sight then losing it later in life would be much worse than never having sight.. because, I couldn't imagine having to relearn to navigate the world would be extremely difficult.
he thought never having sight would be worse... Because he couldn't imagine never being able to see.

Never having eyesight is worse.... if you lose it atleast you have memories of your loved ones and such.

I'd have to say having sight and then losing it but really I cant even imagine never having sight or what that experience is like to say if its easier or harder.

Having sight then losing it. I have a chronic disease and my eyesight is constantly being attacked. There’s been 2x when I’ve almost lost all my vision. 1 time was 2 years ago and then about a week after I gave birth to my daughter my eyesight was almost gone again. It took about a month to heal and in that time I could barely see my newborn and couldn’t even navigate my own home. I felt so worthless and I contemplated suicide a couple times cause my doctors were iffy on whether my vision would heal or not. My daughter needed me and I couldn’t even do anything for her cause I couldn’t see her bottles, formula, or breastmilk, diapers, wipes, tub, even her face. So losing sight after having it to me is much worse.

I would think having sight and losing it, it would be huge adjustment to life and will be years or maybe a lifetime of completely dependent on help and assistance from others. Also a extremely depressing thing to go through my friend lost her eye sight at 23 and she wouldn’t even allow visitors to come see her for a very long time because it made her so uncomfortable not being able to see them and not being able to see herself. She went through a major depression. 
Born with out eye sight is I’m sure extremely challenging and I wouldn’t doubt brings its own battles but it’s all they know. And is normal for them and many people live very independent life’s despite not having eyesight.

Having it and then losing it. If you never had it, you grew up learning from an infant how to survive and live without it. If you had it and then lost it, you have to retrain your mind and body completely, and figure life out practically from scratch again, and you realize how upsetting that is because you can remember what it was like and how easy it was before

I witnessed my husbands grandmother losing her sight,it was terrible. She was this independent woman even at 90 years old. But when she lost her sight things went bad really fast.
A guy I know lost nearly all sight in his mid fifties,he also struggles a lot with the adjusting that comes with it because he feels so dependent and useless to society(his words). 
So I think losing sight when you're aware what seeing means is pretty hard. People who never knew what it's like learn to adapt easier because they don't know how else it could be. 
That's just my two cents.

Never having sight is worse! At least if you had sight, you know the colors/faces/looks of objects and people. If you never had sight, it might be easier to navigate the world, but then you would never know those things, at least not as truly as people with sight.

I worked with blind students when I was in college, and those who had sight and lost it seemed to have an easier time in general. They loved when I described to them how the sky looked, what was surrounding them, etc.

I agree with you. I think it would be worse to lose vision, because then you have to relearn how to do everything without sight. That would be an incredibly hard transition. If you were born without vision, then you don’t have to transition - you just learn without sight from the start. And you don’t know what you’re missing.
