Pregnant while your spouse is away?
I hope this is okay to post here, I thought some of you ladies might have some practical insight. My husband is a vet and is trying to get into the state police academy at the moment (I also posted this in ttc in your 20's and didn't bother explaining that there)
My husband and I have been married for about 6m, and we both have known for a long time that we want a family, and that we want me to stay home with our kids. As a part of that, my husband is working on a career change. He hasn't been accepted yet, but if he is he would have to go away for training for 6months starting in March and only come home every other weekend, and I would be able to go out and see him on the weekends he can't come home.
We originally had thought the training would start this fall, and were hoping to start ttc next spring/summer. Now, with the timeline adjusted, we have started talking about ttc before he leaves, by our best estimate he would be back in September, so ttc so that we would have the baby in October or November.
Obviously we wouldn't want to do anything until we have more specific dates and know that he has been accepted to the program (he would leave the program with a full time job with benefits.)
Are we crazy for planning to have our pregnancy be over the entire time he's away? I mean it's not the way I imagined it... But we want kids so badly, and we are ready. And while I love my job, I don't really have a drive to "climb the latter" since I know eventually I'll be staying home...
