Has anyone started a job one day and did not return the next day?

This isn't TMI but I do need advice. Please don't delete.
I went on the interview 2 weeks ago. There were several red flags during the interview BUT I NEEDED THE INCOME. While gathering my info for the new job in childcare, more red flags.
Started yesterday and instantly knew this wasn't it.

I feel terrible about leaving in this manner.

Jobs that are shit already know they are and need to fix the working conditions to retain good people. I have given two days notice before, If you don't want to work there again no problem. You don't owe a company anything they will let you go with no notice every time. That's why there are managers, part time employees and temp agencies to cover shift, I wouldn't want someone just there for a paycheck their work is going to be shit and I might as well have no one there with me. Being there just to work is different that means you want to work.

I took a job a couple of years back even though I didn’t want it, but it offered benefits that my job at the time didn’t. There were a bunch of red flags during the interview (nothing shady about the place, but scheduling conflicts that I knew weren’t going to work out all that well for me, pay wasn’t what I thought it was going to be, etc.) but I was raising my daughter on my own and figured the benefits would be worth it. I made it 3 hours through my first day of training, went home and emailed HR to tell them that the job was not for me. I’ve never done that before and I felt like a piece of garbage. I was able to go back to my original job and now I actually own the business! It wasn’t for me, and I wasn’t about to let a job be my life.
I definitely wouldn’t make a habit of job hopping, but if you know it’s not for you then it’s best to just part ways and find something else.

Don't feel bad. It's one thing to be irresponsible and just not show up because whatever, but if there was a reason you were not comfortable to return, don't sweat it.
I started a second job at a fast food restaurant (I worked there as my first job but needed the second income, as I already had a full time, set schedule job). I was leaving my first job as I was sick and my manager gave me permission to call my second job before packing up so I didn't forget. They said to still come in, when I was still throwing up while speaking to them. I told them over the phone that I'll be in the next day to turn in my uniform. They hung up on me.
Shitty employers know they're shitty.

Oh yes. I mean I was at this job for about 8 months but at the end I just told them “see ya.” They started treating me like shit ever since I got pregnant and I wasn’t about to deal with that. They would judge me, write me up for “feeling miserable.” Which is a load of crap. You saw a ton of red flags, it’s totally fine to leave. A lot of people will go through the two week training and tell the company no thanks.

So my story with this was kinda a whirlwind. I interviewed for this Greek restaurant in town and got the job right away. I show up on the first day all is good but boss says I’m overdressed and can dress more casually tomorrow if I’d like. I say okay and then wear a black t shirt and black leggings with sneakers. It shows off my tattoos and is immediately noticed by my male coworkers are now seeing me with makeup and tattoos for the first time and actually looking 21 rather than 16. (I’m pretty babyfaced still for being in my 20’s) one cook in particular takes interest in me. He asks me out to coffee I say no. I go to lunch come back and he corners me just out of view of the cameras. He yells at me for denying him slaps the storage room wall then walks out. I’m shaken up but fine. He gets off and I’m still on the clock til closing. I THOUGHT he had left at 3pm o’clock so I relax. But when I finally get off at 9pm and walk out after closing headed to my bus stop HE DRIVES UP BEHIND ME THE WHOLE WAY TO MY BUS STOP TELLS ME TO GET IN HIS CAR AND FLIPS TF OUT WHEN I SAY NO!!!! I had to ask the bus driver to walk me into my building because I was terrified this guy followed me home! Went to the police the next day and they said they couldn’t do anything because he only stalked me that night and hasn’t seen me since. They escorted me to the restaurant and back to my apartment after I quit. The owner had admitted to giving him my bus stop and my schedule but not my address or phone number thank god.

I ended up quitting a job i worked at for 8 months. Never gave any sort of notice it was a simple i quit if questions are needed or anyone wants to talk let me know. I worked there for 8 months and got treated so poorly. I recieved no help at all from coworkers or management. I was expected to clean the store, stock, organize shelves, help costumers and cashier all by myself. Was questioned why i wasn't going enough, was told i wasn't moving fast enough or hard enough and so on. Manager said straight to my face that when i was there it was like her free day to sit around and play on her phone and relax but anyone else she was willing to help. I got written up for the silliest things ever. When i first started working there i got a brief explanation to how to use the register and was expected to figure out everything else on my own. The store i worked at opened in 2017. Something i didn't understand was how someone who worked there for as long as i did could go on vacation for over a month and how someone could be gone for like 3 weeks at a time they were sick but when i ask for 3 days off because I'm puking it was suddenly a big no no. So i gave up and told them i quit. What you did was best for you and you don't need to owe any one an explanation. :)

Girl I worked at Goodwill for 2 1/2 days and one of those days were training and then I quit at lunch and I don’t regret it and I’ll never look back and now I have a job that doesn’t feel like I’m stuck or miserable or in pain for very little income for full time, so yeah! You have to do what you have to do! Be happy not miserable.

Kinda shitty, if you saw the red flags before hand and still chose to take the job then you should’ve at least put in a 2 weeks notice. Waste of their time.

I've gone to interviews and taken jobs and never gone to the day I was scheduled to go in. I've quit jobs without a word, just never going back. It is what it is 🤷🏼‍♀️ life goes on and there are better jobs out there.
