At what age did you first take your child to the movie theater?

I wanted to get an idea of the age at which a child can start to enjoy this experience. I am completely familiar with the AAP recommendations on screens but I understand that is now always the norm.

I would say that when a child can sit through a whole film at home without getting distracted or too loud is when it's okay

Hi my son will be 3 in 3 months and we waited to take him to a movie but I was worried he could not do it so we went on the 4 th of July and it went great he sat on my lap watching the secret life of pets 2 the whole time :) 
The last couple minutes he started to get tired of sitting but still just stood up by my feet 
So I’m SO glad we tried it

My hubby & I just took our soon to be 3 year old. She did great & loved it! Grandma stayed home with her baby sister so she got a special date with Mama & Dada. It was such a nice experience. We went on a Sunday at 10:30am so it was all kids & families.

In the summer, regal has free movies. So i took my kids to see how they would behave. I also new it would be full of kids. So if my son did act up, there would be others to. He was 4.

My son is almost 5 havent took him yet but i will be i would say if they can watch a whole movie at home go for it

I took my daughter to a special mother and baby screening, so the lights were left on and the volume was lower than normal. She was about 15 months, but was on the verge of not staying still and running around the whole time. I'm now going to wait until she's probably around 3 before going again.

My boys could never sit still for an entire movie until they were about 6 or 7. But my daughter at age 4  1/2 did great. I think it mostly depends on the child
