Wash new baby clothes before use?

Question

May be a silly question but do I need to wash all the new clothes I got from my shower? I was hoping to keep the tags on some in case we don't use them before baby outgrows them but on the flip side want to be prepared and have the laundry done before baby comes if needed. If so, suggestions on detergent?

I would wash it. Babies have sensitive skin. Also, don't buy into the Dreft bandwagon. If you do a little research you'll find that Dreft is nearly identical to Tide regular with the exception of a few enzymes. I used Dreft on my first daughter's clothes and she broke out terribly and I finally decided to look into it and was really annoyed when I found that out. I used any brand's free & clear or free & gentle now and no more skin issues

I plan on washing a couple outfits in different sizes since who knows what size our son will fit into when he is born. After he is born I will go through the stuff that doesn't fit and return to the store for larger sizes. I'm sure if you have family visiting after the baby is born they would be more than happy to help out and wash some baby clothes for you. I wouldn't stress about washing everything right now...just wash a few outfits till you know what size you will need for sure.

I washed all his 0-3 clothes, and a few newborn sleepers. Based on my ultrasounds, baby is going to be about 9.5lb, so I only did a few newborn until he's here and we know for sure. Also all his linens and stuff like that. I just used regular tide detergent, and will switch if he has a reaction. How I look at it, he's going to be in contact with other people, who don't use special detergent, so there's no point in using baby detergent unless there is a problem.

Wash what you think you'll use right away and then if it turns out you'll use the others, wash them later! I have NB-6 month sleepers and onesies all washed and put away.

With my first baby I washed all clothes which I bought for myself or I got from my baby showers. I used Baby Draft Detergent!

But I will suggest don't wash all cause my baby was big didn't wore N & 0-3M straightly wire 3M clothes.

In excitement I washed them all😂 But later I was regret, I could returned them & bought other stuff as needed but I had no option left.

This time even I buy new clothes for her but going to wash only home coming outfits 1-N; 1-0-3M & 1-3M
I have same gender this time so I will use my first baby clothes😊

You want to use a fragrance free, dye free detergent. So there are many detergents made for babies. My mom suggested I use free and clear All.

And I'm personally washing her clothes before she wears them.

I wash literally everything before use. You never know if it was returned or who's touched it or what dyes it has ect.
