Does anyone have any tips and tricks on how to deal with an ingrown toenail that may be infected. He cant be seen by his doctor for 1.5 weeks

Soak in warm water, avoid tight socks or shoes and cut toenails straight across whenever you’re able to. 
This is exactly how our son’s toe looked and we got an antibiotic cream but really it went away on its own. Just follow those steps and keep monitoring, if it gets worse before you can see the doctor you might be able to get the antibiotic without the visit. 
The cream we called is called mupirocin ointment

I’d say try to put hydrogen peroxide on it, (small amount) then see if you can cut the nail a bit (not dig it out) but cut it.
