Zofran for morning sickness?

My doc says it is okay, although I have read some articles and seen scary TV ads.  I know TV ads can be exaggerated...for example I was taking Xarelto for a couple of years and nothing ever happened as the ad on tv suggested. Only switched to Lovenox when TTC.

Birth defects can happen from anything. Many women use Zofran and have perfectly healthy pregnancies. Many women don't, don't eat lunch meat, and avoid all other pregnancy "no no's" and have children with health problems. I couldn't handle Zofran because it gave me hives but if you need it, take it. Your doctor wouldn't prescribe something that was definitely going to cause problems while dehydration and malnutrition from constant vomitting can and will cause harm to you and baby

Thanks ladies.  I have a high risk OB, will ask and get more info. I used to take it regularly because of vertigo and migraine-nausea...but so far I haven't needed it. Maybe being pregnant is good for me 😊

I know some women who's babies have had birth defects and some who didn't. You never know. To be honest I prefer not to take any medications as they all have some side effects, some cam an be serious. I only take medicine if it's absolutely necessary. They do make ginger candies which I do take which help with nausea and vomiting and they don't taste too bad either. You can get them at vitamin world these might help. They have helped me out a lot and I have medical problems that cause severe nausea at times. Good luck!

My doctor said they will give it to me once I'm in my second trimester, which is only 2 weeks away for me. According to them, the studies showed birth defects from taking Zofran in the first trimester only. I figured since I'm only 2 weeks away from my second trimester, I might as well tough it out and wait. How far along are you?
