Announcing to the in-laws

We are announcing to my in laws tonight and I’m honestly dreading it. His family has always hated me (I have never done anything wrong, I think my husband’s mom is the ring master and has turned the rest of his family against me). I really just want to just say it out loud and get it over with, no big announcement. I did do an announcement for my family but I knew they would be excited. Am I wrong for doing an announcement with one family and not the other?
