Preterm labor at 34 weeks, EPIDURAL DIDNT WORK, and my husband is a fool 😂

Ce

My baby girl was born June 26th, 6 weeks early. That morning i didn’t feel any different, but I noticed I might be leaking and thought it could be amniotic fluid. My drs office didn’t open until 8am, and I had to be at work at 8am, so I drove to work but let them know ahead of time that I likely wouldn’t be in the office long as I’d likely be going to the dr for them to test if my water was leaking. Funny thing is I had contractions on the way to work and didn’t even know it, I thought they were just stronger Braxton Hicks, I’d had Braxton Hicks since 29 weeks. Called my dr at 8am, they had me in by 8:30. Dropped my keys off at work, and the crazy thing is that THAT DAY is the day I was supposed to train the temp person who would eventually be subbing for me while I would be on maternity leave. Little did everyone know she’d be starting THAT day! 🤦🏻‍♀️

So at the drs office they said my water wasn’t broken but i was 1cm dilated and they wanted to hook me up to the monitor to see if I was having contractions. Well, I was, 10 mins apart, apparently since 7:30 that morning. So they sent me to the hospital for longer period of monitoring. Off to the hospital I go, inform my work, and call my husband, who had that day off, to meet me at the hospital. THIS FOOL SAYS “why do I have to come up there? How long will you be there?” I said dear just pack the hospital bag just in case and GET UP HERE. He had to leave Lowe’s 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ to come to the hospital and he was pouting LMAO. AND HE DIDNT PACK THE HOSPITAL BAG.

At the hospital my contractions got stronger and closer together, and the dr checked me and I was 3cm by noon. He says well looks like we’re having a baby. He said he wasn’t going to stop labor if it progressed but he wasn’t going to try to make it progress.

They admit me, and THEN my husband leaves for home (an hour away) to pack the hospital bag and come back to the hospital. 🙄

So my contractions honestly weren’t that bad until that evening. Dr broke my water at like 8pm and that’s when they got badddddd. I then asked for the epidural and that took FOREVER!! I didn’t get it until after 9, and it only numbed my right leg and hip!!!

I felt everything!!!!

I will say, and not to toot my own horn but, everyone told me how well I dealt with the contractions. With my first baby 6 years ago, I kept forgetting to breathe through everything. This time though, I did so well. I had great control the entire time, even when the contractions were the worst. Just after 10, it was time to push!! I pushed for like 5 mins and baby girl was out. 👏🏻

One tiny tear so just a stitch or two!

And she was healthy! Came out kicking and screaming! 5lbs 5oz 10:19pm 18 1/2” long, Emma Kate 💝

She’s still in the NICU until she can eat 80% on her own without the feeding tube. We are so in love.
